Lead Network Engineer Jonathan Bailey competed in the Fortinet Ultimate Fabric Challenge Battle CardFortinet Ultimate Fabric Global Challenge. The competition is based on eSports skills and focuses on cybersecurity tests. To succeed, the players use their skills with Fortinet products to solve objectives within a certain amount of time. Bonus points are available for the fastest times throughout the battle. The tasks occur in a virtual world resembling a customer site where they will access the environment and uncover their objectives. The head-to-head match is with the best Fortinet users around the world.

In April 2023, 40 skilled contenders from around the globe challenged their abilities by configuring multiple Fortinet products that make up the security fabric of a virtual enterprise. Competitors receive points for each achievement, and the contestant that solves the problems the fastest gets the most points. Participants must be familiar with Fortinet products, including FortiGate Next-Generation Firewalls, SD-WAN, FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager, FortiSwitch, FortiSASE, FortiClient, and more. This year, contenders faced a virtual state-of-the-art, fully automated manufacturing plant. They also had to know how to provide remote users with secure private access with FortiSASE. The security environment intensely focuses on securing access to operational technology.

To participate in the contest, each player must pass the qualifying rounds. Participants are required to have obtained the Fortinet NSE level 4 certification to enter the challenge.

Jonathan placed 3rd in the U.S. contest. His score pushed him ahead to participate in the global match. Jonathan fought against 39 other competitors worldwide and ranked 14th globally.
