Compensation Working full-time for a company enables you to have a steady paycheck (the same amount at the same time as a full-time employee for as long as you stay employed). Although the security is nice, it doesn’t allow you much room to expand your income. In addition, as a salaried employee you may not be getting fairly compensated for all the hours you work. When working in a permanent position, there are times when your deliverables and/or objectives aren’t clearly defined. You may feel like you’re treading water just waiting for opportunity to arise. As a contract employee, you come in with clearly defined objectives and deliverables. You’re there to get to work on the task at hand. In addition, you don’t have to worry about falling prey to the office politics and the “get ahead” culture that comes along with it.
